September 8th - International Literacy Day

Since 1967, International Literacy Day celebrations have taken place annually around the world on September 8th to remind the public of the importance of literacy as a matter of dignity and human rights, and to advance the literacy agenda towards a more literate and sustainable society.

Despite progress made, literacy challenges persist with at least 773 million adults worldwide lacking basic literacy skills today.

In the latest survey, overall literary rate of India stood at 77.7% and state wise Karnataka is also at 77.2%.

In our community, here's how our lovely VJ Minchu celebrated International Literacy Day by discussing the importance of education on his show 'Bhavanegala Besuge Minchu Jothege.'

You can also watch 'Bhavanegala Besuge Minchu Jothege' every day at 5:00pm on Shree Kannada Channel.

We hope you enjoy the clip as much as we did.

Let's all do our small part and serve our community just as Minchu does.
